The United Soccer Coaches announced its All-Americans for the 2019-20 winter and spring seasons earlier this week. Florida, Texas, California, Georgia and 16 other states play varsity soccer during the winter and spring seasons.

In all, 45 players were named All-Americans, including six players from the Sunshine State.

Joao Negrao-Assis, the influential midfielder for Boca Raton, was one of three boys from the state who earned All-America honors. Negrao-Assis scored the opening goal in the Class 7A state final to help the Boca Raton become the fifth boys soccer team in state history to finish the season unbeaten and untied.

Negrao-Assis finished the 2020 season with 19 goals and 25 assists while leading the Bobcats to a 28-0-0 record. Boca Raton outscored opponents 108-3 en route to one of the most dominating varsity soccer seaons Florida has ever seen.

The other two boys who earned All-America honors were Patrick Horan and Leonardo Perez.

Horan led the entire state — boys and girls — with 72 goals scored during the 2019-2020 season. The senior forward from the Canterbury School in Fort Myers, added 22 assists. He will play at Rollins College in Winter Park this fall.

Perez was a goal-scoring machine for Cape Coral Mariner. The senior forward helpd the Tritons advance to the Class 4A state final after scoring 69 goals and providing 31 assists. In his varsity career, Perez produced 148 goals and 68 assists. He will head to Annapolis this fall to enroll at the United States Naval Academy.

On the girls side, St. Johns Creekside midfielder Delaney Tauzel was one of three All-Americans.

Tauzel scored 13 goals and assisted seven otheers to help Creekside advance to the Class 6A semifinals. Though a natural holding midfielder, Tauzel played as a No. 8, a No. 10 and even at center forward for her varsity team.

Lake Mary forward Izzy Kadzban and Archbishop McCarthy’s Jordyn Pitter were also named All-Americans.

Pitter helped Archbishop McCarthy win its first Florida High School Athletic Association state championship. She scored 17 goals and added 11 assists, despite spending portions of the season in midfield and at fullback. Pitter will play collegiate soccer at the University of Central Florida.

Kadzban scored 15 goals and assisted five othrs in 12 matches for the Rams this season. The 18-year-old has already earned two caps for the Chilean national team.

Kadzban and Tauzel will be teamates at the University of Florida this fall. The Gators incoming freshman class also includes Sydney Urban, a midfielder from Poly Prep Country Day School in Brooklyn, who was a United Soccer Coaches All-American for the Fall 2019 season as well as Florida’s 2020 Miss Soccer winner Madelaine Rhodes.
