St. Johns Bartram Trail ends the 2021 regular season as Florida’s No. 1 ranked girls soccer team for the second straight year.
The Bears (11-2) topped the all-classification rankings that were released on Jan. 25. The reigning Class 7A state champions finished the regular season with a 5-2 win over neighborhood rival St. Johns Creekside on Jan. 26. Their quest to repeat will begin in earnest in the District 1-7A semifinals on Feb. 5.
The rest of the top 10 feature a handful of familiar programs in Niceville, Oviedo, Lakeland Christian and Tampa Plant.
Orange Park St. Johns Country Day, one of two teams to beat Bartram Trail this season, is No. 8 after completing a 11-0-0 regular season. The Spartans have won 32 straight matches, as well as nine consecutive state championships, and are the heavy favorite to win again.
Last season, three of the six teams that finished atop their classification in the final ranking of the regular season went on to win state championships, while two others lost in the state final.
The regional playoffs kickoff on Feb. 16.
