Stanton boys soccer returns to Region 1-5A final

Blue Devils eliminate Fort Walton Beach

Stanton College Prep used goals from Jacob Faltemier and Miles Andre to hold off visiting Fort Walton Beach (10-6-1) on Saturday night in the FHSAA Class 5A playoffs.

Stanton (12-1-5) is undefeated in its last five matches. Faltemier scored the opener in the 11th minute. Fort Walton Beach’s Kenny Medina came off the bench to square the equalizer in the 36th minute. Stanton’s Miles produced the game-winner with a 60th minute effort that flew into the top corner.

Stanton won the 2020 Region 1-5A title before losing to eventual state champion Tampa Jesuit in the state semifinals. To repeat as regional champs, the Blue Devils will travel to face Daytona Beach Seabreeze (14-2-2) in Wednesday’s Region 1-5A final.

Seabreeze has 14 seniors and is 10-0-0 at home this season.
