No. 1 Seminoles remained undefeated following Sunday’s home win

Two games. Two wins. Two clean sheets. It can’t get too much better than that for the No. 1 team in the country.

Florida State dominated visiting Alabama from kickoff on Sunday afternoon at the Seminoles Soccer Complex. Alabama (1-1) started the game in a middle block, but once the top-ranked Seminoles began picking the lock to the Crimson Tide defense the opportunities and goals, soon flowed.

An Alabama own goal opened the scoring the in the 21st minute. Former Florida State keeper Brooke Bollinger punched a Seminoles corner kick into her net in the middle of a goalmouth scrum.

Florida State (2-0) piled on the pressure from there. Maria Alagoa thumped an effort from 25-yards into the side netting in the 33rd minute to give Florida State a 2-0 halftime lead. Florida State had opportunities in the first 15 minutes of the second half to put the game and finally did when Beata Olsson stabbed in Clara Robbins’ cross from close range in the 63rd minute.

Gianna Mitchell scored in the 83rd to round out the scoring.
