St. Johns Bartram Trail extended its state-leading winning streak to 24 games following a 5-0 win over Ponte Vedra on Tuesday night.

The Sharks (9-2-1) may be the reigning FHSAA Class 5A state champions and conceded seven times in 11 games this season; but, they were no match for the Bears. Bartram Trail’s Grace Ivey opened the scoring in the eighth minute.

The Bears (10-0) followed with three goals in four minutes to put the game out of reach. Florida Atlantic commitment Morgan McDonald put the finishing touches on the win with a slaloming run through the Sharks defense in the 66th. McDonald, typically a holding midfielder, dribbled 40 yards into the penalty area before calmly dispatching her shot into the side netting.

Bartram Trail has a plus-51 goal differential this season (53 GF, 2 GA) against a schedule that features two wins over Ponte Vedra, a convincing victory over perennial private school powerhouse Monteverde Academy as well as a victory over reigning Class 3A state champion Lakeland Christian.
