Undefeated, untied St. Johns Bartram Trail remains No. 1 in Florida

St. Johns Bartram Trail dominance through the first half of Florida’s varsity soccer season was rewarded with the No. 1 overall ranking in the first FHSAA girls soccer rankings that were released Tuesday afternoon.
The Bears (12-0) have won 26 straight matches. This year’s squad has already beaten four of the top 14 teams in the all-classification rankings, including a 5-0 destruction of statewide No. 4 Ponte Vedra on Dec. 14.
Three of the top four programs in the state are located in suburban Jacksonville. St. Johns Creekside, coached by former Bartram Trail assistant, is third overall in the state. The Knights perfect start to the season ended on Dec. 14 when 10-time state champion St. Johns Country Day defeated them 1-0.
In the southwest corner of the state North Fort Myers is unbeaten and responsible for the only losses Cape Coral Mariner and Miami Lourdes have sustained this season.
There will be plenty of movement in the all-classification rankings, and the classification rankings between now and February. For now, most schools in the state are taking time off for the holiday break.
