St. Johns County’s reputation as a youth soccer hotbed is as much a statement of fact as St. Augustine being America’s oldest city.

This year, is lining up to be even more historic than the last two seasons when St. Johns Bartram Trail, St. Johns Creekside and Ponte Vedra are three of the top four teams in Florida.

Bartram Trail (13-0) extended its winning streak to 27 games on Tuesday night following an 8-0 win over Bolles. The Bears are the No. 1 team in Florida for a third consecutive week. Creekside (11-1) is third. Ponte Vedra (10-3-1) is fourth.

Thursday night, Ponte Vedra hosts Creekside in a matchup that will feature an explosive Knights offense against a Ponte Vedra team that has historically been well-organized and difficult to break down.

Another enclave of the Sunshine State that has produced a series of exceptional teams is down in Lee County.

Undefeated North Fort Myers (10-0-1) is led by Florida Atlantic commitment Michelle Horan who has scored 17 goals and assisted eight others. The Red Knights have advanced to the regional final in four of the last five seasons, including a 2021 state semifinal; but, have yet to play for a title. Is this the year? A regular season finale against Venice on Jan. 21 may go a long way in answering whether the Red Knights are ready to make a run.

North Fort Myers is No. 2 in the statewide rankings and Cape Coral Mariner (13-2) is eighth in the state. Neighboring Cape Coral is off to an 11-1-2 start and will face Mariner on Thursday.

Here is a look at the rest of the statewide rankings.
