Bartram Trail is back in the FHSAA state semifinals for the fifth time in the last six years. The Bears (19-0-2) eliminated rival St. Johns Creekside 3-0 in the Region 1-7A final.

Carolyn Johnson, the daughter of former Creekside coach Brent Johnson, scored Bartram’s opener in the sixth minute. Olivia Bori scored a second half brace to dethrone the Knights (12-6).

Bartram Trail will play the winner of Weston Cypress Bay (17-2) or Marjorie Stoneman Douglas High School (16-1-1) in Friday’s semifinal. Bartram blitzed Cypress Bay in the 2021 and 2022 state finals. Stoneman Douglas, the best public school program in state history with five state titles and eight appearances in the state final, lost to Cypress Bay in the 2021 state semifinals.

“This is the game I’m always so anxious about,” Bartram Trail head coach Jen Rodriguez said afterward. “Our goal was staying focused the entire 80 minutes.”
