Inter Miami remains unbeaten

The Supporters Shield winners eviscerated the Houston Dynamo in their first road contest of the 2025 MLS season.

Inter Miami scored the first four goals of the game in a 4-1 win in Texas on Sunday night. The Herons pressed and harassed Houston into turnovers that led to their first two goals.

Venezuelan international Telasco Segovia scored a first-half brace to give him three goals in two league matches this year. The 21-year-old was part of an athletic and energetic midfielder that featured Benji Cremaschi on his 20th birthday.

Lionel Messi didn’t make the trip. His longtime partner in crime, Luis Suarez did and scored in the 80th minute to put the game away. Sergio Busquets assisted Suarez’ first of the 2025 season.

Inter Miami (1-0-1, 4 points) is unbeaten in all competitions.

The Herons host Jamaica Premier League side Cavalier S.C. in the Round of 16 in the CONCACAF Champions Cup on Thursday, March 6.

Orlando City earns first win of 2025

Orlando City dominated visiting Toronto FC on Saturday night to pick up its first win of the calendar year.

Alex Freeman made an instant impact in his first MLS start. The 20-year-old from Baltimore was deployed as a fullback in the Lions’ 4-2-3-1 system.

The Lion used first half goals from César Araújo and Freeman en route to a 4-2 win. Araújo curled in a free kick from 25 yards in the 33rd minute to open the scoring. Freeman added a second in the 35th minute.

Monday, Araújo and Freeman were named to MLS’ Team of the Matchday for their performances.

Martin Ojeda and substitute Dagur Thorhallsson scored second-half goals for Orlando City (1-1, 3 points.)

Afterward, Freeman said his team played well in the first half; but, they are on the hunt for clean sheets. Orlando is one of four teams that have allowed six goals in the first two games of the season. The Lions are the only club in that quartet to have won a match.

Orlando will head to Gotham for its next two matches. The Lions face NYCFC on March 8 at Yankee Stadium, then return north to face 2024 MLS Cup finalist New York Red Bulls on March 15.

Orlando has won just two of its 11 road contests (2-7-2) against NYCFC in the decade-long history between the clubs.

Meanwhile, the Red Bulls beat Orlando in Central Florida to advance to MLS Cup. While Orlando has some new faces, like Freeman, the spine of the team that was on the pitch for that devastating defeat should figure into the starting XI on the Ides of March.
