The Tampa Bay Sun won the first USL Super League Final on June 14 when it topped in-state foe Ft. Lauderdale United 1-0 on June 14 in front of a capacity crowd in downtown Tampa.

Cecilie Fløe Nielsen scored in the 100th minute to give the Sun a 1-0 win.

Fløe Nielsen’s opportunistic goalmouth finish provided an example of why she led the Sun with 12 regular season goals and came stateside after leading the Danish Women’s League in scoring in 2023.

Fløe Nielsen’s goal was assisted by Florida native, and former USF attacker, Sydny Nasello.

The win was far from the first time Denise Schilte-Brown brought a trophy to the Tampa Bay area.

Prior to taking over the Sun, Schilte-Brown brought USF’s women’s program to national prominence, leading the Bulls to eight appearances in the NCAA Division I tournament as well as three Conference USA regular season titles and three more Conference USA Tournament titles.

The eight-team league will add Sporting Jax when it kicks off its 2025-26 season in August.
