Florida State’s quest to become the first team in a decade to repeat was upended with a home loss to UCLA on Friday afternoon in Tallahassee.

The Bruins (18-4-1) scored a seventh minute goal off haphazard defending from the Seminoles and added two more in the first half to take an unassailable lead at intermission.

Chloe Castaneda and Mia Fishel  scored the goals. Castaneda scored the first two. Fishel  opened her account in the 33rd minute and put the game away with her header in the 55th minute.

“We didn’t make it easy for ourselves from the start,” Florida State head coach Mark Krikorian told Seminoles.com after the game. “Credit to UCLA, they came out and established a high tempo early, made it very difficult around our penalty box, were very efficient with their chances and we let too many balls bounce around dangerous spots and they were able to convert it.”

“At halftime, we talked about how you can’t get it all back at once so let’s see if we can get one back in the first ten or fifteen minutes and see where we go from there. But today, it just wasn’t meant to be for us.”

Florida State finishes the season 18-5.
