Undefeated St. Johns Bartram Trail is poll-to-poll statewide No. 1

FHSAA district tournaments kick off this week. While the teams at the top of the statewide rankings are all-but assured a regional playoff berth, throughout the state there are scores of teams looking to play their way into the postseason.

St. Johns Bartram Trail was the No. 1 ranked team at the end of the 2020 and 2021 seasons. The Bears (15-0-0) will look to end the 2022 season the same way they did the last two: as state champion. Time will tell whether that will happen.

One thing is very likely over the next month. Not all six teams that are ranked No. 1 in their class will win a FHSAA state championship, nor even qualify for the state semifinals. Who will be upset before the first touch in DeLand remains to be seen.
